Global Fund GC8 National Consultation | Mulungushi International Conference Centre | May–July 2026

As Zambia prepares its Grant Cycle 8 (GC8) funding request to the Global Fund, TYP360 is making sure adolescents and young people are not an afterthought in the numbers. On 5 June 2026, TYP360 as part of the official GC8 writing team and lead of the Youth Constituency on the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM), convened a national consultation bringing together Ministry of Health officials, civil society representatives, and youth delegates.

The consultation built on Zambia's National HIV and AIDS Strategic Framework and translated it into concrete, costed priorities for young people: expanded access to HIV prevention tools including PrEP and PEP, thousands of newly trained peer educators and health workers, dozens of new and refurbished adolescent-friendly spaces, and structural interventions such as savings groups and school-retention support for adolescent girls and young women most at risk.

This consultation was not a one-off. TYP360 has stayed at the table across the full arc of the GC8 writing process from the first retreat through to the fourth ensuring that adolescent and youth priorities weren't just raised once and left behind, but carried forward, defended, and refined at every stage as the proposal took shape.

Central Province has been identified as one of the high-burden provinces, making its inclusion in the proposal all the more essential. Because Central Province, home to all four Space to Lead districts is recognised as high-burden, the priorities shaped across these retreats carry direct weight for the communities TYP360 already serves. Having stayed engaged from retreat one through four, TYP360 is now positioned to ensure these AYP priorities survive intact into the final national proposal.
