Understanding Values, Changing Outcomes: SRHR Sessions Reach Young People Across Central Province

Kapiri Mposhi, Chisamba, Chibombo & Mkushi Districts | April 2026
The Youth Platform 360 (TYP360), in partnership with Plan International, works across Kapiri Mposhi, Chisamba, Chibombo, and Mkushi Districts to help adolescents and young people access sexual and reproductive health information and services, and to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures.
Between 13 and 27 April 2026, TYP360 and its partners Here to Love, Empowered to Empower, and Strategic Youth Organisation under the Space to Lead Project supported by SIDA through Plan international held a series of interactive sessions on "Values and Their Influence on SRHR Outcomes" across four districts. The sessions reached 233 adolescents and young people through health facilities in Kapiri Mposhi, Chisamba, Chibombo, and Mkushi, giving them space to talk openly about the beliefs that shape their choices around relationships, contraception, and health-seeking behaviour.
Facilitators helped participants trace the sources of their personal values family, culture, religion, peers, media and examine how those values connect directly to real outcomes: safer relationships, informed decision-making, and reduced vulnerability to risk. Safeguarding was woven into every session, with clear guidance on reporting mechanisms including the toll-free helpline (116) and local safeguarding focal persons.
"By the end of the sessions, they expressed interest in continuing engagement through the Youth-Friendly Spaces." On 14 first-time participants in Mkushi
In Mkushi, the sessions produced a standout moment: 14 young people who had never before engaged as peer educators moved from quiet observers to active participants, and are now being linked to Youth-Friendly Spaces through the District Adolescent Focal Point Person. Communities across all four districts welcomed the sessions and asked that they continue, with several requesting outreach support for young people living far from health facilities.
