Every Girl Deserves the Knowledge, Products and Confidence to Manage Her Period with Dignity

Space to Share, in partnership with The Youth Platform 360 (TYP360), conducted menstrual hygiene awareness sessions at Choma Day Secondary School and the TYP360 Headquarters under the Winning with Women and Girls Project, with support from the Her Voice Fund. The sessions brought together adolescent girls and young women, both in and out of school, to learn, share experiences, and discuss healthy menstrual practices.

Participants explored what menstrual hygiene means, the different products that can be used during menstruation, proper care for reusable pads, and safe disposal methods for menstrual products.

Chabota, a learner from Choma Day Secondary School, shared how the session changed her perspective: “I thought hanging my reusable pad under my bed was the safest option, but I have learned that drying it in the sun is healthier, and I can simply cover it with a chitenge for privacy.”

The collaboration between The Youth Platform 360 and Space to Share demonstrates a shared commitment to promoting menstrual health, advancing girls' rights, and ensuring that every girl has the knowledge, resources, and support needed to manage menstruation with confidence and dignity.

Ending period poverty remains a key goal, and through continued partnerships and community engagement, more girls can stay in school, thrive, and reach their full potential without being held back by menstruation.
