About YLAP

YLAP empowered adolescents and young people (AYP) to demand better Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services through youth-led advocacy, community monitoring, and policy engagement.

What We Did

  • Community-Led Monitoring (CLM): Youth assessed SRH services and used findings for advocacy.
  • Monthly Weekend Clinics: 5 health facilities provided FP, STI screening, HIV testing, and youth-friendly services.
  • Interface Meetings: Regular engagement with health providers, educators & community leaders.
  • District Stakeholder Meetings: Strengthened collaboration between government, CSOs & communities.
  • National Engagement Meetings: Advocated for policy improvements using CLM data.
  • SRHR Digital Campaign: Reached 8,000+ youth with SRH information online.

Impact & Results

YLAP successfully amplified youth voices in SRH service accountability, policy change, and community-driven health improvements.

  • 2,000 AGYW accessed family planning services
  • 4,000 AYP screened for STIs, 2,000 AYP tested for HIV & PrEP access
  • 20 Community Health Champions trained
  • 12 interface meetings at health facility level
  • 4 national roundtable meetings influencing SRHR policy
  • Increased knowledge & access to youth-friendly SRH services
