A Step Towards a Safer Zambia

The Youth Platform (TYP) is excited to share that we were honored to attend the launch of the Coalition Against Illicit Alcohol (CAIA). This monumental step marks a significant stride in addressing the pervasive issue of illicit alcohol within our communities.

Our dedicated representatives, Malu Eli Mwaanga, Lubumbe Jeremaih Mulanda, and Starbile Zackeyo, were privileged to be part of this important event. The launch was a powerful demonstration of the commitment to safeguarding public health, promoting safety, and preserving the integrity of Zambia’s alcohol market.

A Gathering of Leaders

Distinguished leaders from across various sectors came together to support this vital initiative. Her Honor the Vice President W.K Mutale Nalumango, along with the Ministers of Rural Development Garry Nkombo and Lands & Natural Resources Sylvia Masebo, graced the occasion. Their presence underscored the government’s unwavering support for combating the harmful effects of illicit alcohol.

Furthermore, the launch was attended by Permanent Secretaries, Members of Parliament, and senior government officials, demonstrating the widespread recognition of this pressing issue. Key private sector stakeholders, including Zambian Breweries, DGM Beverages, and the Zambia National Public Health Institute, also lent their support to this noble cause.
