Supported by AMPLIFY CHANGE

The Youth Community Advocacy Project (Y-CAP) continues to be a dynamic force in advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) among adolescents and young people. With support from Amplify Change, Y-CAP is breaking barriers to access by championing inclusive, youth-friendly services—especially for underserved and vulnerable populations. Through weekend clinics, interactive campus activations, and community-based engagements, Y-CAP is equipping young people with the knowledge, confidence, and platforms to advocate for their SRHR needs.

Recent Highlights

Y-CAP has rolled out a series of high-impact activities tailored to the unique SRHR needs of young people:

Interactive Campus and Community Sessions

In collaboration with health providers and academic institutions, Y-CAP conducted SRHR Campus Activations at:

  • Mulungushi University
  • Nkrumah University
  • Nkana College of Education

These sessions also extended to youth groups in churches and community settings. Topics included:

  • Contraception and menstrual hygiene
  • Consent and bodily autonomy
  • Legal frameworks surrounding abortion care

Using storytelling, peer dialogue, and interactive discussions, these sessions created safe spaces for open, honest conversations about the everyday challenges young people face in accessing SRHR services.

Weekend Youth Clinics

Partnering with local health facilities, Y-CAP launched Weekend Youth Clinics to offer:

  • Contraceptives and HIV testing
  • STI screening and PrEP
  • Counselling and referral services

These clinics operate outside regular hours to accommodate students and working youth, ensuring stigma-free, confidential care.

STORY OF CHANGE: Y-CAP IGNITES YOUTH VOICES FOR SRHR

Supported by Amplify Change

At the heart of the Youth Community Advocacy Project (Y-CAP) lies a simple but powerful belief: when young people are informed and empowered, they become unstoppable advocates for their health and rights. This belief came to life during a recent SRHR Campus Activation at Nkrumah University, where a quiet ripple of curiosity turned into a wave of confidence and advocacy.

Bridging Access Through Weekend Clinics

Through Weekend Youth Clinics, Y-CAP has reached over 1,000 adolescents and young people with services including contraceptives, STI screening, PrEP, and counselling. These clinics operate outside regular hours, making it easier for students and working youth to access care without stigma or delay.
